Fear

To be honest, just under 72 hours ago, I was absolutely terrified for this journey. I am extremely afraid of planes, so much so that I seriously researched taking a boat all the way across the Atlantic Ocean. With three different flights, I definitely was forced to faced my fear. Perhaps I have not conquered it yet, as I still panicked every time the pilot came over the speaker, cried on the runway in the tiniest plane, and hit the button during one flight so that the flight attendant would come talk to me. Nevertheless the plane did not drop out of the sky and I made it to Sevilla.

As soon as I arrived, all of my other fears practically disappeared. I wasn’t scared of getting into an accident on the way to the hotel, even though the guy driving the taxi was anything but a safe driver. I wasn’t scared of the people or the places I didn’t know. We even got sort of lost last night with no phones, and I still wasn’t scared. Most people wouldn’t fear these things to begin with, but before coming here, I feared all of those things. I don’t know what it is about being here, but I’m just not scared about every little thing like I am back home and it’s really exciting.

  2. I am so glad u arrived safely and enjoying Seville. I visited there in 1971. What impressed me is all of the beautiful buildings, churches, historic artwork and the culture. The taxis there drive CRAZY!!! It hasn’t changed. U look like u belong there for the experience of your school years. I used to be terrified of planes too but in the sky I feel at peace. The clouds are beautiful. Always be streetwise and travel with a companion. Love always, Grandma “B”. 1-17-2020
