many people told me before this trip that living with a host family is probably the best part of this study abroad program, but to be honest it wasn’t something that I was overly excited for. I wasn’t really nervous or scared, but there were plenty of things I was looking forward to besides that. however once my roommate and I got our housing assignments, we were so excited to meet our host parents, Maribel and Chicho. when we pulled up to the house on the first day, they were already outside waiting for us and they seemed so excited to show us their house and help us move in. since then, we have realized that we truly have the best host family out of the whole program. they are so welcoming and caring. they encourage us to go out and have fun with our friends and to travel whenever we have the opportunity. they want to talk to us and learn about our lives back home just as much as we want to learn more about them. I love how they always make jokes about me being a picky eater and taking a lot of naps, which is not too different then my family back home. I want to go out and see Sevilla and travel when I can, but a part of me just always wants to be home talking to our host parents. we still have three months left, but the thought of having to leave Maribel and Chicho already makes me so sad. we just feel so lucky that we were assigned them and we could ask for a better host family experience.
We are very happy that you are enjoying your host family and your adventures!
